"This is all I get?" Morning sorry for msg so early but just wanted to ask did you're boyfriend only give ny hubby snow pants and 2 hoodies? Just wanna make sure I'm gonna be 100% honest with you and I really hope that this doesn't come across as harsh. I'm possibly overly sensitive or whatever but I'm getting the feeling that you're not exactly happy with what I gave you guys. I'm not expecting you to feel eternally indebted to me but I dunno, I'm getting the vibe that this stuff isn't enough.

I recently joined a Buy Nothing / Free stuff group on Facebook. This woman and her husband, and newborn baby are placed in a hotel while waiting for social housing from the city. She made a post asking if anyone had any food or clothing to spare. I contacted her as I had a tonne of clothing to give and lots of non perishable foods. Plus, I gave her toiletries,

winter gear, and a George Foreman grill. I told her that I was also going to get her a Walmart gift card for $50 but she had the gull to ask me for an e-transfer PLUS to make the gift card $80. For a bit if info about myself, I am currently on long term disability benefits as I am recovering from a stroke and I told her that. Told her I couldn't swing that much money.

After bringing them 6 bags of washed clothing for her and her husband and a massive bag of food, she asked me if my bf ONLY gave the husband a couple of sweaters. That kind of me right off and I had to say something. This woman isn't as audacious as others are from some of the posts here but I'm still left with a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm not expecting you to feel eternally indebted to me but I dunno, I'm getting the vibe that this stuff isn't enough. Especially when asking for money and for more than what I could give with the gift card. I'm left feeling a little bit used in a sense.

monkey_monkey_monkey · 12 hr. ago Since she clearly isn't going to say it, I will. Thank you for being a good human. I've been struggling with my faith in humanity for while now. People like you give me glimmers of hope. € 1.6k € Reply Share

gaggerofnuns OP. 12 hr. ago Aw man, you're gonna make me cry. It's too bad that there's always one person who fus it up for everyone else. I've since left these groups and from now on, I will find an actual local charity that will happily take my stuff without being an ole. € 547 € as Reply Share

Dingle BerrieIcecream · 10 hr. ago One piece of advice that I have found to be very helpful is to sell the items for a very very low price. For example, listing sweaters on craigslist or Facebook marketplace for two or three dollars each. Something that even a person very down on their luck could afford, and it has the effect of shutting out choosy beggars like this.

It also works well when someone comes to buy the two dollar sweaters and if they're prepared to pay you just give it to them for free. You end up dealing with a much nicer class of humans this way. € 299 € Reply Share

lark2004 12 hr. ago Carhart clothing is expensive, and great quality! I'd be over the moon with a donation like that! You're a good person €128 € Reply Share gaggerofnuns OP - 12 hr. ago Brand new pants!! I had just taken the stickers off before the wash.

I bought them for work but they were a bit too tight and I told myself that I'd lose weight. Welp, that never happened. I almost held onto them because I'm now finally losing weight but I figured this guy needed it more than me and was able to wear them right away and not down the road after losing 80lbs. €66€ Reply Share

gaggerofnuns OP. 15 hr. ago Yeah I left those groups immediately after this interaction. I've been trying to avoid giving my clothing to Value Village because they make $1B a year of profit and they sell the clothing at a stupid price. This place is supposed to be affordable clothing for people in need. I thought what better way to contribute than to give to my neighbours. Well, f me, right?

DKCFan 12 hr. ago Dude I had the same happen to me. Was giving away a couch for free. Definitely used but still viable. Woman contacted me to ask about couch, let me know she and her BF just had a baby and moved into an apartment with absolutely nothing. I helped load the couch on their beater car, followed them to new apartment, loaded it up a flight of stairs and into their new place. Went back to my house and my wife had packed like 3 bags of clothing (some brand new - she had a shopping prob

back to my house and raided our thought they could use. for anything I 2 days later she contacts me and says they no longer want the couch and asks what I am going to do. I told her (nicely), it's their couch now. The following day, I get home from work and guess what's sitting at the end of my yard. The couch..... Paid $50 to have it hauled away to the dump. Guess that was the price of being kind. €34€ Reply Share
